Dental Nerve Blocks for Zen Anesthesia
This lecture will explore the different site and drug choices to perform safe dental nerve blocks in dogs and cats by identifying risk factors, adverse effects, and contraindications. We will familiarize attendees with anatomy of the dog and cat skull with regard to innervation of the face and jaw. We will define the indications for nerve blocks and appropriate site choices with evidence based references for good decision-making. The ultimate goal is to provide multimodal pain relief and balanced anesthesia for dental procedures.

Steps to a Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment (COHAT)
Performing a Complete Oral Health Assessment and Treatment (COHAT) entails much more than removing plaque and calculus from the teeth. A thorough dental prophylaxis consists of educating the client, an oral examination, charting the disease process, pathology and anomalies, radiographs, both supra, and sub-gingival plaque and calculus removal, hand scaling, polishing, irrigation, and home care instructions. Each step is vital to prevent or halt disease progression.

It's Not Just A Dental
“It’s Not Just A Dental” is a 50+ min talk about the importance of educating our clients about the health of their pets mouth, issues related to their pets specific oral issues and what needs to happen with a dental procedure to improve their health. Education of the client PRIOR to the procedure will diminish post procedure misunderstandings that hurt the veterinary/client relationship that can easily be avoided just by education of the client in the exam room. This talk is focused on canine patients but is just as necessary for our feline patients as well. Dr Wilson walks through different aspects to key in on and also talks through several cases for examples.

Cade Wilson owns and manages a 3-practitioner mixed animal veterinary hospital in south-central Oklahoma, Carter County Animal Hospital, P.C. He personally practices small animal veterinary medicine. He opened this hospital in 2007, from scratch, after years of practicing as an associate veterinarian. He has loved watching it grow from the single doctor small animal practice it was to its current state.
He is Co-Founder and Partner of Skoped Micro where they take your microscope usage and abilities to the next level. Skoped Micro’s patent pending cell phone/microscope attachment allows you to visualize, collect and share videos and photos through your microscope. Years ago, he began working on an app that allows you to measure accurately at high magnification, maximize your magnification and lighting, and share your view live with other App users for real time teaching, consultation or research directly through the microscope you already own with the smart phone in your pocket!
In 2021, he established CMW Consulting as an easier way to share his nearly three decades of knowledge from the veterinary field and almost every aspect within it. His experience started with job shadowing and progressed to an associate veterinarian, a practice owner and manager. He has worked with major veterinary companies and laboratories, veterinary products and app development, patent acquisition for new inventions, aiding in the development of new teaching methods in veterinary and veterinary technician programs, veterinary conference vendor, teacher/speaker experiences, and is a published writer. These diverse experiences have allowed him to develop an extensive knowledge base. As a veterinarian at heart, he believes in giving back and sharing his knowledge and those gifts. This consultation service provides him with a way to directly work with organizations as a CE speaker, consultant or writer and to be an aid to others with whom he can share his vast experiences.
