Hypersomatotropism: A Common Cause of Diabetes Mellitus in Cats
Are you treating cats with diabetes mellitus (DM)? At least 1 in 4 of those cats have concurrent hypersomatotropism (DM-HS). The treatment, prognosis, progression and monitoring of cats with DM and HS-DM can be vastly different and therefore differentiating the 2 causes is critical. If you are waiting for classic acromegalic phenotype or excessive insulin requirements before diagnosing, you are missing many of these cats. Diagnosis, management, treatment goals and monitoring of cats with HS-DM will be discussed.

Approach to Acute Respiratory Distress in Cats
Being presented with a cat in acute respiratory distress can be distressing for us. This session will review a simple and systematic approach to the diagnosis and treatment of cats in respiratory distress. The focus is on localizing the problem within the respiratory tract which allows targeted diagnostics and early treatment.
