Management of Respiratory Complications During Anesthesia
Monitoring during anesthesia is far more than recording numbers—it’s about understanding what those numbers mean for the patient in front of you. An effective veterinary anesthetist doesn’t just interpret data; they translate it into clinically relevant insights and use it to guide decision-making in real time. This lecture focuses on turning ventilation and oxygenation parameters into actionable tools, with practical strategies for recognizing and managing hypoventilation and hypoxemia before they become critical events.

No Pain is More Gain: Multimodal Analgesia in Dogs and Cats
Effective pain management is essential to improving patient outcomes, enhancing recovery, and elevating the standard of care in veterinary practice. This practical session will explore the principles of multimodal analgesia and how to apply them throughout the peri-anesthetic period in both canine and feline patients. Attendees will review pain pathways and nociception, learn how to match analgesic drugs and techniques to specific pain mechanisms, and gain confidence incorporating opioids, NSAIDs, local anesthetics, and other analgesic options into patient-centered treatment plans. Through real-world case examples, veterinarians and veterinary technicians will discover practical strategies for developing tailored analgesic protocols, optimizing peri-operative care, minimizing anesthetic risks, and improving patient comfort from admission through recovery and discharge.
