Dr. Calder has lived and practiced veterinary medicine in both New Jersey and Maine for many years. In addition to general practice, she spent time as part of the behavior service at the San Francisco SPCA and in Community Practice within several veterinary school teaching hospitals. With a longstanding interest in animal behavior, she completed a residency with the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists in 2016 and became a board-certified Diplomate (DACVB) in 2017. Dr. Calder operates her own veterinary case consultation behavior practice and creates behavior-focused content for CattleDog Publishing® and the Veterinary Information Network®, Inc (VIN). She is co-editor of the new second edition of Dr. Sophia Yin’s Low Stress Handling® and Behavior Modification of Dogs and Cats, Low Stress Handling®: A Practical Guide to Cooperative Care, Training and Behavior Modification, and Veterinary Guide to Preventing Behavior Problems in Dogs and Cats. Her passion lies in education and in preparing veterinary professionals and students to be “Day One” ready to diagnose, manage, and support behavioral cases in clinical practice.
